Mr. David Tuckwiller Miller, age 39 of Boone, died Sunday evening, March 30, 2008 at home. Born May 4, 1968 inWataugaCounty, he was the son of Joyce Tuckwiller-Herring and Joe Miller. David was an artist, and a self-employed landscaper. He was a member of Boone United Methodist Church Surviving are his wife; Shawn Dillon Miller, one daughter, Emma Miller, one son, Haden Miller, all of Boone, his mother, Joyce Tuckwiller-Herring and husband Bobby of Mesa, Arizona, his father, Joe Miller and wife Lynda of Boone, and one brother, Joseph Miller and wife Deborah of Todd. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; L. E. and Anne Hensley Tuckwiller and his paternal grandparents, Cecil and Flossie Church Miller. Funeral services for Mr. David Tuckwiller Miller will be conducted Friday morning at 11 o’clock at BooneUnitedMethodistChurch. Officiating will be Dr. George Naff. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. The family respectfully requests no food or flowers, and suggests memorials to the Emma & Haden Miller Education Fund, in care of High Country Bank, 149 Jefferson Road,Boone,NC 28607or to Mountain Top Counseling, Post OfficeBox 1249,Boone,NC28607. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 until 8 o’clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. At other times friends may call at the residence of Joe & Lynda Miller,Brookshire Road,BooneNC28607. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Miller family.

We have yet another busy show season ahead of us, and we've updated our coming events page so you can see when we'll be in "your neck of the woods."  We'll be adding new shows as we get accepted.  Things change quickly though, right after our last update it was announced that due to the drought in Georgia the Annual Dogwood Festival, held in Piedmont Park will be relocated.  No word on where yet, but the fair organizers have promised us information within a week.  For our complete schedule click on this link http://thespringgallery.com/exhibitions.html
 
Kathrine has a new batch of Valentines fresh off the drawing board.  We decided to do a "Virtual Valentine Show" this year, as we are both really busy trying to keep up with our regular work.  This is a tiny show, only 9 pieces available, to be among the first to see them click here http://thespringgallery.com/valentines.html
 
Scott is participating in Art Festival Beth-El in St. Petersburg FL.  If you are in the area it is at 400 Pasadena Avenue South.  Show hours are Sunday Jan. 27th from 11am-5pm, and Monday Jan. 28th from 10am-5pm.  It is a group show, and Scott's Mediterranean Boat Paintings will be featured.
 
We've been thinking about our next Patron Sponsored Show, and it looks like we will be planning a trip to Ireland!  We will be sending out information in the next few weeks, if you think you'd be interested in collecting a little bit o' Ireland, let us know and we'll tell you how it all works!

Barrie Foster won 2nd Place at the Gibson County Visual Arts Association 2008 Exhibition for my painting of "Ray".  The show is a national show and the
judge was Charlotte Huntley, AWS.  The show is located at the City Hall in Trenton, TN and hangs through May 9.
 
Carolyn Grosse Gawarecki: In November at the Vienna Art Society Tart Show, Carolyn Grosse Gawarecki received a Third Place award from Marian VanLandingham for her painting, Red Shadows. She took a Frist Place in the Washington Watercolor Society Show at Strathmore Hall for Fountain Gossip and has 3 miniatures in the 74th International Miniature Society Show of Washington, D.C. also at Strathmore Hall. Carolyn's Workshop June 2-15 to Connemara, Ireland has surpassed it's required enrollment and has one remaining double room left, contact Susan Webster 800-952-9641 or 703- 5533-0891 or Carolyn 703-532-5278 to join this great trip.
  
Johanna Hanks donated a watercolor to America Cancer Society "Night of Wine and Roses"auction in Oct and an oil to Channel 11 for their event  in Nov. Johanna had a watercolor accepted in Oklahoma National Watercolor exhibit. The juror Warren Taylor choose 69 paintings from the total of 241 entries. Johanna's painting for "Healing exhibit" at the Lawrence Art Center was purchased by Timally S Salos, chairman & chief executive officer, who donated it to the K.U.Hospital Medical Center to be hung at the infusion Clinic.
She also had a watercolor accepted into the juried National Oklahoma eExhibit.Warren Taylor, known artist choose 69 paintings from 241 entries. Johanna also sold a painting at th Lawrence Center "Healing Ehibit": Timthy Stos Chief excutor office & chairman purchased the piece to be hung at the K.U. hospital Medical Infusion Clinice..

Verena J.Heroux  Her watercolor painting "Janice" just received a Excellence in Art Award at the Arts Council of Carteret County's 18th Annual "Art from the Heart" show there were 346 entries. The show is being held at the Former News-Times building, Morehead City, NC from Feb 16th - March 1st.   The Judge Henry Stindt of Greenville NC has taught photography and graphic design for the School of Art at East Carolina University NC. Feb. 24, 2008: 1st place at the 26th Annual Touch of Class Art Show in Havelock NC for watercolor painting "Celebration."

Betty Jameson's painting, In the Garden, won a  Second Place cash prize in Collage/Mixed Media
Civic Art Society's 42nd Annual Regional Exhibition March 4-30 at The Eisemann Center, Richardson, Texas.  She also had Four paintings accepted from 225 entries worldwide into  Upstream people Gallery's 10th Annual Judeo-Christian Art International Online Juried Exhibition which opens internationally for 12 months on April 1 at www.upstreampeople.com
Betty Jameson had two pieces, Midnight Moon and Illumination  accepted in The Associated Arts of Ocean Shores 39th National Juried Fine Art Exhibition April 11-13 Ocean Shores Convention Center 120 W. Chance-a-la-Mer, Ocean Shores Washington.
Two pf her paintings were accepted in The Evergreen Art Society's Small Works Show, at The Evergreen Center for The Arts, Evergreen Colorado March 1-30.
Betty Jameson's painting, Damascus Rose was accepted by juror Linda Moyer for the Southern Watercolor Society's 31st Annual Exhibition February 29-March 29, 2008.  The show at The Gadsden Art Center in Quincy, Florida is hosted by the Tallahassee Watercolor Society.
Betty has just been published in a Children's book, "Your Magical Party" as the illustrator.  Susan Welch-Biggs is the author.  The publisher is Xlibris and books are available in hardcover and softcover editions.Jameson had two paintings, Butterfly and In the Garden, accepted by Pat Dews for the Richardson Civic Art Society's 42nd Annual Regional Exhibition March 4-30 at The Eisemann Center, Richardson, Texas. In The Garden won Second Place in Collage/Mixed Media.

Virginia Kweller was honored to receive the Mildre Kautzman Memeorial award for realism in the 2007 Central South Art Exhibition for her painting of "Anna"

Mary Montague Sikes A painting by Virginia artist and author, Mary Montague Sikes is part of the cover design for her new novel, Eagle Rising, published by Oak Tree Books. The book is available on Amazon or from your favorite bookstore. This is her second novel. Her third, Secrets by the Sea, is scheduled for release later this year. She is author of a coffee table book, Hotels to Remember, which is illustrated with her paintings and photographs.

Kathryn Rileigh, Brevard NC, had a painting juried into the First Frontier Collage Society show.  The painting, entitled "Be Cautious", is a watermedia/collage piece and will hang in the show from September to November; thereafter the show can be viewed online at Collageffcs.com.

Clare Pearson Zipperly received the Daler Rowney merit award at the Georgia Watercolor Society for my painting "Seaside Tango" and I am thrilled with that. I will be receiving my signature status at the April 5th opening (Saturday) for the Georgia Watercolor Society.
Clare Pearson Zipperly's painting "In the Eye of the Beholder" has been accepted and is exhibiting in The Tallahassee Watercolor Society Tri-State Competition at the Lemoyne Center for the Visual Arts in Tallahassee. It runs from April 4th through May 4th.
 
 Clare Pearson Zipperly's painting "Cacti" has been accepted and is exhibiting in the National Watercolor Society All-Member Juried Show. It is being held at the Viva Gallery in Sherman Oaks, CA (near L.A.) from April 16th through May 3rd.
