Susan has been a professional artist and instructor for over 20 years. Her emphasis is on rich color and strong design. She paints and instructs in a variety of media’s though her passion lies with watercolor. She is known for her portrayal of crystal and glass and for her ability to capture light in her paintings.
She is a signature member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, Baltimore Watercolor Society and the Southern Watercolor Society and Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in New York. She is also a member of the American Watercolor Society, Bon Air Artist Association, a past president of the Metropolitan Artist Association and currently sits on the board of The Arts and Cultural Funding Consortium for Richmond, Va.
Susan is represented locally by “Crossroads Art Center” and ”Suitable For Framing”. She is also represented by Anchor and Palette Gallery in Bay Head, N. J. The Morales gallery in Nags Head, N.C. and The Little Gallery on Smith Mountain Lake, Moneta,Va.
She has been the recipient of many awards locally as well as nationally. In 2005 she won “The Georg Shook Memorial Award” at the Southern Watercolor Exhibition in Panama City Fla. The Dick Blick Award at the Mid-Atlantic Watercolor Exhibition in Bethesda, Md. Best in Show at the Maymont Flower and Garden Show, Richmond, Va.
Susan’s work can be found in many private and corporate collections in the United States and Europe. Federal Reserve Bank, Franklin Federal Savings and Loan, I.B.M., A.H. Robbins, BB & T Bank, and Richmond Times Dispatch Corporate headquarters are but a few of her corporate clients.
Susan continues to instruct 3 painting classes a week at Crossroads Art Center. This past year she taught workshops in Richmond, Va. and Danville, California. Susan was also the workshop instructor for “Art in Provence” Dieulefit, France 2002. She is currently working on her new workshop schedule for 2006.
