Jan Ledbetter: GUATEMALA PAINTING WORKSHOP-TOUR

DISCOVER  ECUADOR PAINTING WORKSHOP-TOUR  with Jan Ledbetter NWS
September 29 – Oct 8, 2010 with an optional add-on to the Galapagos Islands Oct. 8 – 12

Please join me as we travel to some of the most picturesque places in Ecuador with an optional trip to the Galapagos Islands http://www.galapagosislands.com/index.html. Explore the Old Town of Quito, an extensive Spanish Colonial center from the 1500s that was built over the ashes of what was a major part of the Inca Empire and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We’ll visit Otavalo http://www.otavalo-ecuador.com/, one of South America’s most famous Inca markets where textiles woven on back strap looms and other local crafts can be seen. We also will explore  surrounding villages where beautiful leather goods, wood carvings and textiles are produced.

View the Avenue of the Volcanoes as we travel to Hacienda San Agustín de Callo, http://www.incahacienda.com/ a luxury hotel built on the site of an Inca palace in the 15th century. One of the two most important archaeological Inca sites in Ecuador, it is the only lived in museum of Inca and Spanish Colonial style. This working farm offers an unrivalled glimpse into Ecuador’s rich and colorful past. Experience the real flavor of Ecuador while staying at Hacienda La Alegria a family-run, working ranch with real Chagras (cowboys).  http://www.haciendalaalegria.com/. Dramatic scenery of volcanoes, patchwork covered mountains, and rose plantations lead us to the Hacienda Cusin, http://www.haciendacusin.com/  in the Northern Andes. A restored 17th century Andean estate, it is now a charming and comfortable country inn furnished with colonial antiques, tapestries, and Andean crafts. Old stone walls topped with moss encircle two acres of gardens which attract over 50 species of birds. We’ll also have the opportunity to see Cotopaxi National Park home to wild horses, llamas and the giant condors of the Andes.

Painting and photo opportunities abound as we visit amazingly beautiful and intriguing Ecuador one of the most diverse countries in South America.

In the optional add-on tour to the Galapagos Islands, you’ll experience one of nature's unique wonders seeing a large diversity of plants and animals that are found nowhere else on earth.

Please visit Jan’s website at www.janledbetter.com and Explore Guatemala at www.exploreguatemala.com for more information and prices. The trip is sponsored by Explore Guatemala.
