Marsha Harris

ARTIST STATEMENT:
"I find many patterns and statements in the world
around us, social as well as physical and manmade. My work is an
expression of that reality, and it is usually representational and
interpretive. Every painting has its own development and evolution
leading to that expression. Like life, there is significance and truth
to be found in closer scrutiny of what may at first appear to be merely
pleasant or inviting...." MH

BIOGRAPHY:
Marsha Harris has been painting ideas and objects since childhood. She
studied art through school and at the University of Texas (Austin), and
received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from University of Houston in
1966. She has continued to study art with nationally-acclaimed artists.
Marsha has been active with Watercolor Art Society - Houston for more
than 2 decades. She served on its Board in many capacities for 7 years,
including President 1990-91. She has been affiliated with Archway Gallery
since 1994 and has presented 6 one-woman exhibits there. Marsha's
award-winning works have appeared in juried competitive art shows all
over the country; she is a Signature Member of Texas, New Mexico, and
Oklahoma watercolor societies. Arizona Watercolor Association named her
Royal Scorpion in 2002 (their highest merit designation). Also in 2002 she
presented a watercolor demonstration to the annual Lone Star Art Guild state
convention, and in 2003 her work was published by Watercolor Magic, a
national publication.
