- " My philosophy about creating a work of art is to stay true to what brought you to the subject matter in the first place, know your subject well, plan your journey, then enjoy the trip." - Geri M. Davis
Geri Davis was born in Panama, Canal Zone and spent her formative years there. Her father was a Naval officer and because of his profession her family moved all over North, Central and South America. Traveling throughout these regions gave Geri the opportunity to experience nature at its loveliest.
- Always with paper and pencil in hand, she began recording flora and fauna at an early age. Geri graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree and has a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Human Development. She has worked in clinical settings using art as therapy. Geri has also taught art at her own art school, as well as, at the elementary, high school and college levels for over 30 years. She has designed and produced a poster of the "Threatened and Endangered Wildflowers of Georgia". This poster is being used in the Muscogee County 3rd grade classes as an environmental awareness project. Geri is a Signature Member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, The Columbus Artists Guild, Watercolor Society of Alabama, Mississippi Watercolor Society, The American Art Therapy Association, State President of The National League of American Pen Women, Chairman of the Board of The Joseph House Art Gallery and a member of the Dean's Advisory Board for the School of Liberal Arts at Auburn University.
