- Loving drawing and painting in all types of media since a child, Margaret went on to do three years of art study at the Mississippi University for Women, followed up by various
- independent study courses at Rhode Island School of Design and Wesleyan University and art workshops throughout the years.

- Though merely a "Sunday painter" and not a professional, Margaret has a passionate interest in the principles of design and believes that art can take many different shapes and forms.
- Since discovering a Maxine Masterfield book in the nineties, experimental techniques in water media have been of prime interest to her, causing her to be influenced by the
- works of not only Masterfield, but Mary Todd Beam, Betsy Dillard Stroud, Pat Dews, Pat San Souci, Mark Meharry, Mary Alice Brauktman and Pat San Souci.

- While living in San Antonio for many years, Margaret was active in the San Antonio Artists Alliance and still supports the San Antonio Art League.
- She is also a member of the Mississippi Watercolor Society, the American Watercolor Society, the International Society of Experimental Artists, and the National Society of Casein and Acrylic Painters.
